(b) The market

The challenge is not more applications. It is the right capability.

Defence is growing fast. But the talent challenge is rarely about receiving more applications — it is about identifying the right capability for the right mission. We see three clear needs in particular.

01

Commercial leadership

Many companies have strong technology and competitive products, but need the right people to build the market. That may mean establishing operations in Sweden or the Nordics, opening new export markets, or building relationships with authorities, prime contractors and other key players.

These roles require more than traditional sales. They require an understanding of the logic of the defence market, long business cycles, procurement structures, informal decision paths and the weight of trust and relevant networks.

02

Leaders for growth

When companies grow quickly, the demands on leadership change. An organisation that works with 30 people does not necessarily work with 150. You need leaders who can create structure, build teams and professionalise the organisation while keeping pace, culture and entrepreneurship intact.

  • Industrial understanding
  • Commercial judgement
  • Change leadership
  • The ability to operate in the specific context of the defence sector
03

Critical specialists

Some roles cannot be solved with broad advertising. The capability is too narrow, the candidates too few or the background too specific. That calls for structured search, market mapping and an understanding of where the capability actually sits.

Sometimes it sits inside the defence industry. Sometimes in automotive, aerospace, telecom, advanced manufacturing or technology. Our job is to understand the difference.
